Hospital insurance in Medicare, also known as Medicare Part A, is one of the two primary components of Original Medicare. It provides coverage for inpatient hospital care, skilled nursing facility care, hospice care, and some limited home health services.

Most individuals aged 65 and older who have worked and paid Medicare taxes for at least ten years are eligible for premium-free Part A. Medicare Part A covers hospital stays, including semi-private rooms, meals, and necessary hospital services.

It ensures that beneficiaries have access to essential hospital and related services without facing overwhelming financial burdens during their inpatient stays.
